In December 2015, again tenders were floated and two firms had applied for the appointment. The matter is being heard in the high court after a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the court to take action against 6,000 illegal structures in the colony before it went for redevelopment. “We expect to create at least 15,000-20,000 affordable housing units,” the Mhada official added. The redevelopment will be taken up under the amended Development Control Regulations (DCR) 33/5, which will allow Mhada to undertake the redevelopment.
